‘Greatberry®’ - the super berry from Canada
Have a great berry!
‘Greatberry®’ are also known as Saskatoon Berry or June Berry. This wild fruit has been cultivated in plantations in its native Canada for decades and is also very popular as a garden shrub. The berries have a high concentration of antioxidants, flavonoids and vitamin C.
- “Greatberry®” are picked directly from the bush.
- And can be processed into delicious jams, fruity juices, tasty cakes or creamy ice cream, for example.
- Sweet, juicy fruit with a gentle almond aroma.
- Also attractive in the garden or in a large pot on the patio or balcony.
- Easy to care for, undemanding and extremely hardy.
- A beautiful shrub all year round thanks to its flowers, fruit and autumn colors.
All 'Greatberry®'s are robust and healthy plants that can withstand temperatures as low as -40ºC. The multi-stemmed upright shrubs or small trees are 1.5 m to 4 m tall. The white, self-pollinating flowers in April/May are followed in June by the blue-black, approx. 1.5 cm large berries. The fruits are sweet and juicy in taste and have a nutty almond aroma. All varieties are abundantly fruiting, versatile in the kitchen and can be used as a snack fruit, flowering hedge, windbreak and bee pasture.
