Goji berries contain a power package of effects. The fruits, which are probably the richest in vital substances in the world, grow on Lycium barbarum, also known as buckthorn, wolfberry or devil's twine. They contain 2000 percent more antioxidants than cranberries as well as proteins, vitamins and minerals. The egg-shaped, scarlet to orange plants have quickly conquered the European lifestyle and health market in the form of dried fruit, juices and tea.
Lycium barbarum is a drought- and heat-resistant pioneer plant with high ornamental value and great regenerative capacity. It is undemanding and easy to grow, hardy to around -25 degrees and self-pollinating. Currant harvesters can be ideally used for mechanical harvesting in a slightly modified form.
