A broad, upright-growing shrub, up to 1.5 m tall, with arching and overhanging fruiting shoots; leaves elliptic, about 2 to 4 cm long, dark green, remaining till November on plant; flowers small, bell-shaped, white to lilac-pink, appearing from June to August; fruits large, round to oval, intensive lilac-pink to purple-violet - an excellent ornamental shrub due to its rich fruiting and the exceptional colour intensity which is effective from far; for planting in groups and free-growing hedges as well as specimen plant; brought into trade by H.-J.
