Aronia

Small berry with great effect

The chokeberry is one of the most nutritionally valuable types of berries in our culture. The effect of their health-promoting ingredients such as Bioflavonoids and Antioxidation as well as Anthocyanidinen against cancer is proven in clinical trials.
The high-quality wild fruit grows for the industrial utilization as juice or fruit spread in the plantations. Because the interesting and now rare fruit is grown only in a few plantations, the berries are particularly precious and achieve good market prices.

Aronia are robust and hardy plants that will tolerate almost any soil. They are self-pollinating, can be harvested after two years of standing and have a service life of 20 years. Because they are virtually immune to pests and diseases they must usually never be sprayed or otherwise treated. The fruits can be mechanically harvested through the use of (currant) vibrating machines. The yields of good growing varieties are 17 kg per plant. The juice of the berries is almost 80 percent.
